currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Arts Management at LASALLE College of the Arts. I graduated from Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 2022 with a Diploma in Film, Sound, and Video. My passion lies in igniting change within the sociocultural sphere because I am deeply concerned with history, heritage, culture, and politics. My education in film has taught me the power of storytelling and the impact it can bring to the world.Changing the world might be an impossible task, but at the very least I hope to be a vessel of change to inspire those around me to think more, empathise more, and care more about society.I am looking for opportunities to develop myself as a creative and heritage manager, especially in the performing and visual arts sectors.

  • Volunteer management - planning and executing volunteer training, providing for the welfare of the volunteers.

  • Collated marketing materials across the different stakeholders and ensured programme information was accurate and up-to-date throughout all collaterals (website, festival map, social media).

Under HeritageSG (HSG), I was fortunate to be able to join the Singapore Night Festival (SNF) team in organising the 16th edition of Singapore's largest nocturnal experience! This marks the first year of the festival under HSG's jurisdiction, following the organisational shift of the Festivals and Precinct Department (FPD) from the National Heritage Board (NHB) to HSG.The main bulk of my duties was in volunteer management. We recruited over 40 volunteers to energise our festival operations across four different roles: Artwork Ambassadors, Tour Guides, Social Media Creatives, and Photographers. Under the wonderful guidance of my fellow colleagues, a volunteer management plan was curated and executed to ensure volunteers had sufficient training and welfare to carry out their respective duties.Of course, this was not without its challenges. For my first time handling volunteers for such a large-scale event, I had to balance volunteer management alongside other festival-related duties, plan feasible training and tour plans within budget and time constraints, and roster volunteers according to their delicate schedules. This was an eye-opening experience into how much effort and planning go into volunteering alone. Luckily, there were no major mishaps during the course of the festival and its planning. However, reflecting on my experience, I believe more attention could be given to the volunteering programme in order to provide volunteers with an even more fulfilling experience, and an incentive to return for future editions.

Apart from volunteer management, I was also heavily involved in handling marketing collaterals. Starting with the festival website, I was in charge of receiving publicity materials from our artists and stakeholders and inputting them into our website programme listings. This was a meticulous but imperative task, ensuring that all details on our website were accurate and up-to-date. Our festival map required the same amount of detail and attention, and together with our PR/marketing agency Tate Anzur, the festival map was born.

Canva became one of my best friends on the job, as I frequented the site to design EDMs, call-out posts, event notices, and slide decks. Prior graphic design experience allowed me to express my personal design style, but here at HSG, I needed to design for the organisation's image and purpose. After the 16 nights of the festival, an appreciation dinner was held to thank our stakeholders for their part in the festival. Collaborating with Sansys and lyf Funan, the 'Island Nights' themed event signified a warm ending to the months of hard work by the team, and the start of the next one. Together with my dear colleague Amelia, we handled the main bulk of the event planning, such as the logistics and liaising. We concluded SNF 2025, as well as my internship with HSG, and I'm proud to have been part of the FPD team and the legacy of the festival.

The Sibiu International Theatre Festival, or Festivalul Internațional de Teatru de la Sibiu (therefore, FITS), is a globally renowned annual performing arts event held in Sibiu, Romania. The 32nd edition in 2025 adopts the theme ‘Mulţumesc’—the Romanian word for ‘Thank you.’ This theme celebrates the essential bond between artist and audience in which gratitude is exchanged and the power of human connection and generosity that have underpinned the festival's legacy.LASALLE Arts Management students were presented with the opportunity to participate in the festival as a volunteer or as a guest, bringing a total of nine students to Sibiu. I entered the festival as part of the international volunteer programme, spending three full weeks in Sibiu to train in the field of performing arts and cultural management. The volunteer training began with an orientation to introduce the volunteers to each other and to familiarise ourselves with the town. One such activity took us on an "amazing race"-esque quest where we split into groups and explored the whole town to find the answers to questions on an app. After spending the week with my fellow volunteers, sharing meals and discovering new places, we were then split up into our roles for the festival. With over 100 performances and programmes stretched across 10 days of the festival, volunteers are tasked to support the performing companies in communication and logistics. Volunteers are assigned to a company, assisting them with communicating with the festival staff (such as contacting the transport team for transport from the hotel to the performance venue), supporting rehearsals, and providing logistics such as food.Personally, I was assigned to the Long Yun Kung Fu Troupe from Beijing (Jackie Chan's troupe btw!). Being one out of four Mandarin speakers within the international volunteer team, my bilingual capabilities were put to good use in communicating with the troupe. Mainly, I was communicating their needs from Mandarin to English, while the Romanian volunteers with me will translate that for the Romanian festival staff.Their performance, 11 Warriors, was a Kung Fu spectacle showcasing the troupe's discipline and diligence in Chinese martial arts. Bringing this art form from China all the way to a small town in Europe, the audiences were entranced by the troupe's powerful performance.Beyond my role as a volunteer for the festival, I was able to learn more about the processes of festival-making outside of Singapore. I was able to witness how festival staff, volunteers, and audiences come together to create a vibrant and communal space to enjoy the arts. Seeing the entire town transform for the sake of the festival demonstrated how it is possible to make the arts accessible and involve the local community.Back in Singapore, I was able to present my experience in Sibiu at a panel discussion in LASALLE. Read about it here. Read about my fellow classmates' experiences here.

Established in 2017, Rock and Indie Festival (RIF) is an entirely student-led music festival staged annually at LASALLE College of the Arts, centred around showcasing both established and up-and-coming local musicians within the rock and indie genres. The festival also aims to provide a platform for small business owners to showcase their crafts. In an age of polished production, RIF25: (un)filtered hopes to highlight the raw, unfiltered creativity that defines today's music scene. It aims to amplify the voices of emerging artists who are pushing boundaries, crafting their own sounds, and creating communities through their work. The Festival Village takes place on Campus Green (also known as FRASS - "fake grass"), consisting of various art vendors selling trinkets, prints, crochet products, and more. Check out @lasallerif on Instagram for the full list of vendors!Apart from the vendors, RIF2025 introduced the Stamp Rally and Playlist Library to deepen engagement with the attendees. The stamp rally consists of 7 missions, and attendees are awarded stamps after completing each mission. Participants are then rewarded with a print from WackyWears (our sponsor) or a snack of their choosing after completing the card. One of the missions includes partaking in the Playlist Library, where participants recommend their favourite playlist on a post-it note and display it on a corkboard. This activity promotes audience interaction and encourages the exploration of different music genres. My role in the festival is to:

  • Conceptualise, plan and execute the festival village programmes

  • Curate, engage, and liaise with vendors

  • Manage the festival village grounds and ensure the well-being of vendors and attendees

  • Set up and tear down the booths, as well as other logistical duties
